Raymond “Ray” D. Schmidt, 81 of Temperance, MI, died Saturday, June 9, 2018, in his home. Born November 6, 1936, in Temperance, MI, he was the son of Frederick and Clara (Bollinger) Schmidt. He married Eileen M. Knaggs on December 10, 1955. Ray was employed by the former Dolphin Paint & Chemical Company in Toledo for 43 years, retiring in 1998. An outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake, Michigan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eileen; children, Raymond (Karen) Schmidt, Donald (Annie) Schmidt, James (Sheri) Schmidt, Roxanne (Lawrence) Ruetz and Terri (Alan) Swanson; brothers, Norman (Martha) Schmidt, Arnold (Joyce) Schmidt, and Myron “Windy” (Judy) Seger; sisters, Mary Segur, Velda Seger, Donna Eighmey, Janet May and Darlene (Jim) Buehler, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Ray was preceded in death by a son, Robert Schmidt and brother, Lawrence Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery.
